| THE 56 TANTRIX TILES |
Tile HistoryTantrix tiles have evolved considerably since 1988 when the Mind Game was first invented. Mind Game tiles were made from cardboard and had only two different line colours, red and black on a yellow base. Today, Tantrix tiles use three different line colours for the Discovery puzzle, and four colours for the Tantrix game. Over the years, sets with different backgrounds were published, black and various marbled colours such as white and green. |

Tantrix Tile Index The index below shows all 56 tiles contained in the Tantrix Game Pack. Game Pack tiles have numbers engraved on the back of each tile for easy identification. If you own an earlier version of Tantrix (no numbers), then please scroll down further to the "Classic" set tile index. Comparing a tile pattern with either index will allow you to find the corresponding tile number. A Tantrix set can be split up into four colour groups:

The Classic Set Early versions of Tantrix known as the "Classic Set" used unnumbered tiles. Whenever specific tiles had to be selected for a particular puzzle, the tile pattern had to be compared against a numbered "tile index". The tile index below shows all 56 tiles of the Classic set. The table to the right allows a conversion between Classic set and Game Pack tile numbers. The first column identifies the tile number of the Game Pack, the second the corresponding tile of the Classic set. The third column represents a tile's colour sequence. For example, read the first row as follows: Tile number 1 of the Game Pack is the same as tile number 37 of the Classic set. Its 6-side colour sequence is Yellow-Yellow-Blue-Red-Blue-Red.
