2009 French Open

2009 French Table Championship

The 2009 French Open was held on 28 - 29 March, 2009 in Bagneux, France. Organized by Vincent Auger, it was the 5th French Table Championship the second table tournament of 2009. Twelve entrants from four different countries took part. The trophy was won by young Frenchman Christopher Eck who saw off many seasoned veterans in his winning his first medal.

Q&A with the Champion

Q: Did you think you could win before the tournament started?
A: Yes of course. I was there to win and I knew I had my chances.

Q: What was the game you remember most from the tournament?
A: All the games were terific but I remenber most the games with Kornik.

Q: Who won the game between you and your father?
A: Me, on table I usually win but on the computers it is tighter between us because it is easier for him on internet.

Q: What was your favorite moment of the tournament?
A: When I knew I was the new champion.

Q: What did people do Saturday night?
A: We ate mexican food and played a lot of funny games.

Q: Do you plan to go to any tournaments in another country?
A: I wish I could but I'm not 18 so I can't go to other country just for a game

Q: As the reigning French champion do you have any words for the mere mortals?
A: Take your time.

Q: Is there anyone you'd like to thank?
A: I would like to thank all my opponents, because I learn when I play against them.
