Should the lobby master title be for life?

Tantrix Discussion Forum: New Master qualification rules (LM): Should the lobby master title be for life?

There are arguements both ways for the permenance of the lobby master ranking:

In games like chess, it is for life. However, this is a tournament style title similar to the Tantrix ITM/TGM titles.

In some sports, though there might not be a "master" title as such, there are stars, people commanding the respect that tantrix masters should. This status lasts only as long as their extraordinary performance.

The question therefore is this: that type of status is the tantrix lobby ranking?

Howdy - this message was posted by Stefan (stefancr). For some reason it wouldn't accept my password, so I'm now anonymous.

Since Tantrix masters do not attract the international celebrity status or the multimillion dollar pay cheques of sporting stars, I don't think it's fair to remove the ranking of master from players who have reached that level. Having said that, I'm highly biased, as a master who rarely plays and as such has a ranking that is often below 800. Even so, I worked hard for that ranking, and I think it's fair that I stay a master - even one that has perhaps fallen from grace a little. If the Tantrix people insist on limiting the number of masters, I would suggest a system for people to show that they have been a master in the past would be approapriate.
